Nicolai Hartmann: was a German philosopher. Hartmann was born, of German descent, in Riga, now Latvia and then capital of the Russian province of Livonia. He studied Medicine at the University of Tartu (then Jurjev), then Philosophy in St. Petersburg and, most importantly, at the University of Marburg in Germany, where he took his Ph.D. and Habilitation. He was professor of philosophy in Marburg (1922–25), Cologne (1925–31), Berlin (1931–45) and Göttingen (1945–50), where he died.

Nicolai Høgh: is a Danish former football (soccer) player, who played most of his career for Viborg FF. He has played for a number of Danish clubs, and most notably won the 1998-99 Danish Superliga with AaB. A prolific striker in the Superliga, he finished league top scorer three years in row in the 2003-04 (joined), 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons. He has played a single match for the Danish national team.

He was the first president of the Chambre des Comptes, and the fourth member elected to occupy seat 2 of the Académie française in 1788. After giving praise to Louis XVI of France during his reception at the Academy, he was declared an enemy of the people and sentenced to death by guillotine in 1794.
