Tao Chi: was a Chinese landscape painter, calligrapher, and poet during the late Ming Dynasty (1368–1644).Chi was born into an imperial, royal family. He later became a monk to avoid political persecution where he studied and practiced writings and paintings. He subsequently left the Buddhist church to become a professional painter.[1] Chi once described his style as "the best method is no method". His works were produced with combining many different techniques. He was recognized as a top artist in his time and was very influential on other artists.[2]

China provided his personal details to the Chinese government. On August 28, 2007, the World Organization for Human Rights USA sued Yahoo! for allegedly providing information (email and IP address) to the Chinese government that caused the arrests of writers and dissidents. The lawsuit was filed in San Francisco for journalists Shi Tao and Wang Xiaoning.

Song Tao: is a retired Chinese basketball player and coach. 6'10" with impressive mobility, he was the first player from Asia drafted by an NBA team when the Atlanta Hawks selected him in the 3rd round of the 1987 NBA draft, although he never went to training camp due to serious knee injuries. Song competed at 1988 Seoul Olympic Games and was the flag bearer of the Chinese Olympic Team. He retired from China men's national basketball team in 1991 and became a coach/player on the Shandong provincial team. In 1993, Song went to study in San Francisco, California and then moved to Taiwan to compete in the professional Chinese Basketball Alliance until he retired there around the turn of the century. He coached the National Chiao Tung University varsity team in the ensuing years.

The group released their first "prologue" single "What Is Love", on January 30, followed by their second "prologue" single "History" on March 9. They held their first pre-debut showcase in Seoul's Olympic Stadium on March 31, 2012, one hundred days after EXO debuted their first trailer on December 21, 2011. Approximately 3,000 fans from 8,000 applicants were selected to attend the showcase. The group held their second showcase and first press conference in the Great Hall of the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing, China on April 1.
