Murdock MacKinnon: was a Canadian politician and served as the 11th Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island. In the July 28, 1897 General Elections, MacKinnon was elected to represent the Conservative Party in the 4th Kings District in the Provincial Legislature. From that point until the 1919 General Elections, MacKinnon was continuously re-elected and retained his seat in the Legislature. Between 1911 to 1919, he served as Commissioner of Agriculture and Provincial Secretary Treasurer in the provincial cabinet.

James Murdock: was a Canadian politician. Murdock first ran for the Canadian House of Commons as the Liberal candidate in the 1921 federal election in the Ontario riding of Toronto South. Although defeated, he was appointed Minister of Labour in the cabinet of Mackenzie King shortly after the election. The current MP in the riding of Kent, Archibald McCoig, gave up his seat and was appointed to the Canadian Senate in 1922. Murdock was acclaimed to this seat in the resulting 1922 by-election.
