Kun Cán Origin/Culture/Country: Chinese
Kun Cán: was a painter from Hunan who spent most of his life in Nanjing. He became a Chan Buddhism monk at an early age and in Nanjing was abbot of a monastery on Niushou Shan. His style of landscape painting was influenced by Wang Meng and he is one of the Four Monk Masters in the early Qing Dynasty. The others being Zhu Da, Hong Ren, and Shitao. As he was also known as Shi Xi he was at times said to be one of the "Two Shi". Few of Kun Cán's works survive.

He was nominated for Best Actor from his role in A West Lake Moment at the 2005 Golden Horse Awards, won Best Actor for his role in The Knot at the 2007 Huabiao Film Awards, and won Best Actor for his role in Painted Skin at the 2010 Hundred Flowers Awards.
Huang Kun Origin/Culture/Country: Chinese
Huang Kun: was a well-known physicist in the People's Republic of China. He was awarded the State Preeminent Science and Technology Award (The highest science award in China) by the President of the People's Republic of China Jiang Zemin in 2001. In 1951, Huang returned to China to teach, and became a professor of physics at Peking University. In 1955, he became one of the first batch of academicans of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). After his retirement in 1983, Huang remained active in the research of semiconductors and was selected as the chairman of the Chinese Society of Physics between 1987 and 1991. He used to be the director of the institute of semiconductors of CAS.
