Qian Gu: was a Chinese landscape painter during the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644). His date of death is unknown, but is traditionally given as around 1578.Qian was a client of the literatus Wang Shizhen (1526-90), and frequently spent time at Wang's home in Taicang in his later years. In 1572 Qian painted an album of scenes along the Grand Canal while accompanying Wang Shizhen on a journey to the capital at Beijing.

Tao Qian: also known as Tao Yuanming (???), born in modern Jiujiang, Jiangxi, was one of the most influential pre-Tang Dynasty Chinese poets.He came from a notable family which had descended into poverty; when young, he was torn between ambition and a desire to retreat into solitude. His great-grandfather was the famous Eastern Jin general and governor, Tao Kan. He served in a series of minor posts, but his sister's death, as well as disgust at the corruption and infighting of the Jin Court prompted his resignation, convincing him that life was too short to compromise on his principles; as he put it himself, he would not "bow like a servant in return for five bushels of grain" ("??????" has entered common usage to mean "swallowing one's pride in exchange for a meagre existence". 'Five bushels of grain' refers to the salary of a low-ranking official). He lived in retirement for his last 22 years.

Charley Zaijian Qian: is a professor of Public Policy and Sociology and director of the Research Institute of Public Policy and Management at Nanjing Normal University in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, People's Republic of China.Qian graduated from the Department of Philosophy at Nanjing University 1987, earning a B. A. degree, and got his Ph. D. in sociology from Nanjing University in 2004. In November 2002, Qian participated in Asian Christian Faculty Fellowship at Payap University in Qiang Mai, Thailand. From October 2003 to September 2004, Qian studied social welfare at Aichi University of Education in Japan. He was a visiting scholar at Chung Chi College of The Chinese University of Hong Kong from June 13 to July 25 2009.

Wu Qian: is a Chinese classical pianist. At the age of fifteen, Qian performed Mozart’s Piano Concerto in the Queen Elizabeth Hall, London and later at the Menuhin Festival in Gstaad, Switzerland. As the recipient of the Sydney Perry Award from the Martin Musical Foundation, Qian performed the Saint-Saëns Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Philharmonia Orchestra in St John's, Smith Square, London in 2000. In 2001, she played a recital at the Purcell Room where her ambitious programme included Elliott Carter's Night Fantasies, two György Ligeti Études and Hafliði Hallgrímsson's Homage to Mondrian. Broadcast on BBC Radio 3, this recital drew enthusiastic reviews from five national newspapers. Qian has given recitals in the Wigmore Hall, Royal Festival Hall London, the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, the City Hall, Hong Kong, in Hanover and Amsterdam and in the Steinway Hall of Hamburg and New York where her performance was recorded by Japanese National Television NHK for broadcast throughout Asia.
