Henning Carlsen: is a Danish film director, screenwriter, and producer most noted for his documentaries and his contributions to the style of Cinéma vérité.[1] Carlsen's 1966 social-realistic drama Hunger (Sult) was nominated for the Palme D'Or and won the Bodil Award for Best Danish Film. Carlsen also won the Bodil Award the following year for the comedy People Meet and Sweet Music Fills the Heart. Acting as his own producer since 1960, Carlsen has directed more than 25 films, 19 for which he wrote the screenplay. In 2006, he received the Golden Swan Lifetime Achievement Award at the Copenhagen International Film Festival.[2]

He made a major contribution to unveiling the mysterious die-back of eel grass in Northern European waters in the early 20th Century as a pathogen outbreak.His main research was in what was then known as lower fungi - Chytridiomycota and Oomycetes, but he also studied the systematics of Red algae. Parallel to these lines of research, he investigated the intraspecific morphological variation in plant species - which would today be called quantitative genetics.

Gerhard Henning: was a Swedish-Danish sculptor. While working at the Royal Danish Porcelain Factory, he designed a number of delicately decorated figurines. He is however remembered above all for his statues celebrating the female form. One of the finest works executed by Henning while he was at the Royal Copenhagen factory was "The Princess on the Pea" inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's fairy story. With meticulous attention to detail, Henning has depicted a series of images on the many surfaces of the glazed scultpture including Chinese dragons, Persian warriors and children at play. Created in 1911, the following year the piece was awarded the First Class Medal at the Paris Salon where it was considered to be one of the finest pieces of European porcelain of the times.

He competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics as well, placing eighth in the triathlon competition with a time of 1:49:57.47. In International Triathlon Union competition, Henning recorded a second place finish at the 2001 ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Championships.
