Caroline Amalie Of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-A: was Queen consort of Denmark as the second spouse of King Christian VIII between 1839 and 1848. In 1814 she was promised in marriage to the heir to the Danish throne, the future Christian VIII, and were married in 1815. Christian had divorced his first spouse Charlotte Fredericka of Mecklenburg-Schwerin in 1810 on grounds of adultery, and had just returned to Denmark after his abdication of the Norwegian throne. This meant that Christian could devote himself to the sciences, mineralogy and geology in particular. While Christian became celebrated as a man with scientific tendencies, Caroline Amalie was a composer who wrote numerous piano pieces. Her acceptance of her spouse's infidelity was regarded as something suitable and appropriate for a woman of the time.

Charlotte Amalie Of Danmark     Charlotte Amalie Of Danmark       Origin/Culture/Country: Danish

Charlotte Amalie Of Danmark: was a Danish princess, issue of King Frederick IV of Denmark and Louise of Mecklenburg-Güstrow. Charlotte Amalie never married and spent her entire life in Denmark, where she was active in court life. In contrast to her brother and sister-in-law, she had a good relationship with her stepmother, Anna Sophie Reventlow, with whom she lived closely. She tried to prevent the worst hostility at court when Anna Sophie became queen (1721). On 8 April 1771, she was ordered to leave court, and she spent the rest of her life with the queen dowager Juliana Maria, which meant that she continued to spend a lot of her time at court with the queen dowager. As she preferred black wigs, she had ordered her staff to wear them also, and her court became known as "the court of the black wigs". After 1778, she no longer showed herself to the public, as she had become senile.

Charlotte Amalie     Charlotte Amalie       Origin/Culture/Country: Danish

Charlotte Amalie: was queen-consort of Denmark and Norway, being the wife of King Christian V. She was born in Kassel, Hesse, Germany. Her parents were Landgrave William clm VI of Hesse-Kassel and his consort Hedwig Sophia of Brandenburg. She was well educated in French, Italian, geography, and philosophy. Her mother was a strict reformer and politically oriented toward Brandenburg, which also affected her daughter's views. The marriage was arranged by her future mother-in-law, who wanted a daughter-in-law she could control, and in 1665, her future spouse was sent to Hesse to get to know her. The negotiations were drawn out, mainly because of religious matters. Charlotte Amalie was raised in the Reformed faith. In the marriage contract, she was not required to convert although this was disliked and met some resistance before it was accepted. She kept her faith after wedding Christian, who as ruler of Denmark was the head of the state church, the Lutheran Church. She succeeded in exempting herself and her court from the requirement that they adhere to the Lutheran Church. Charlotte obtained the right to practice her "Reformed" faith, and build a "Reformed" Church, which she financed herself. However, her action caused the Lutheran clergy to oppose her coronation as Queen. She did not get along with her mother-in-law, with whom she had conflicts regarding etiquette matters. She also supported the release of Leonora Christina Ulfeldt.

Sophie Amalie Of Brunswick-Lüneburg     Sophie Amalie Of Brunswick-Lüneburg       Origin/Culture/Country: Danish

Sophie Amalie Of Brunswick-Lüneburg: was queen of Denmark and Norway as the consort of the King Frederick III of Denmark. Sophie Amalie was born at the Herzberg Castle, in Herzberg am Harz. Her parents were George, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg and his wife Anne Eleonore of Hesse-Darmstadt. Sophie Amalie married Prince Frederick in Castle Glücksburg on 1 October 1643 and lived in Bremen. The marriage was arranged in 1640 as it was considered suitable for the current situation of the groom: he was, at that point, archbishop of Bremen and not heir to the throne. In 1646–47, they lived in humble circumstances in Flensborg before her spouse was declared heir. She became Queen of Denmark in 1648. They had 8 children, including King Christian V of Denmark and Ulrike Eleonora of Denmark who married King Charles XI of Sweden.
