Simeon G. Toribio: was a Filipino athlete, who won the bronze medal in the high jump at the 1932 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, United States. He represented the Philippines in three consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 1928.[1][2]In 1930, Toribio was awarded the Helms World Trophy for being Asia's greatest athlete. He became a lawyer and a congressman representing Bohol province where he later settled. Simeon Toribio, the pride of Zamboanga, was considered the "Filipino Field Athlete of the Half Century" and "Asia's Best Athlete" for winning gold medals in the high jump event in the Far Eastern Olympics in 1921, 1923, 1927, 1930 and 1934 and a bronze medal in the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics.[3]

Luis Bienvenido Pujols Toribio: was a catcher and manager in Major League Baseball. He played nine seasons with the Houston Astros, Kansas City Royals, and Texas Rangers. Luis Pujols and Los Angeles Angels player Albert Pujols are related as cousins. After his playing career, he was an assistant coach with many teams, mainly working under major league manager Felipe Alou. He later was a coach with the Detroit Tigers and became the team's interim manager for most of the 2002 season after Phil Garner was fired. Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski hired Felipe Alou to be Pujols' bench coach for the remainder of the season. An infamous incident in Pujols's year managing was when the Tigers somehow batted out of order. Pujols was released at the end of the 2002 season, during which the Tigers posted a 55–100 record, and ended up following Alou to San Francisco, where he served as first base coach until the end of the 2006 season.
