John Alexander Macdonald: was a Canadian politician. He represented 3rd Kings in the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island from 1908 to 1915 and from 1923 to 1925 as a Conservative member. Macdonald served in the provincial cabinet as Minister without Portfolio from 1911 to 1915 and as Minister of Public Works and Highways from 1923 to 1925. He was first elected to the Canadian House of Commons in the riding of King's in the 1925 federal election. A Conservative, he was re-elected in 1926 and 1930. Macdonald was a Minister without Portfolio in the federal cabinet in 1926 and from 1930 to 1935. In 1935, he was called to the Canadian Senate representing the senatorial division of Cardigan, Prince Edward Island. He served until his death in Cardigan in 1948.

Andrew Archibald Macdonald: was the fourth Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island from 1 August 1884 to 2 September 1889, was one of the fathers of Canadian Confederation. He was elected a member of the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island from 1853 to 1858. He sat as representative for Georgetown in the House of Assembly from 1854 until 1870. When the Legislative Council became elective in 1863, he was returned as a representative of 2nd Kings District in the Legislative Council and again reelected in 1867. Andrew Macdonald was a member of the Executive Council from 1867 to 1872 and again from 18 April 1872 until Prince Edward Island joined Confederation in 1873. He was leader of the Government Party in Legislative Council for some years. He first returned as a representative of the Liberal Party in carrying out Responsible Government and extending the Electoral Franchise. When the Conservative section of the party joined the Liberal section of the Conservative Party, he united with them to pass the Free Education Act, the Land Purchase Act, the Railway Act, the Confederation Act and other progressive measures. In June 1873 he was appointed Postmaster General of the Province. He was Postmaster at Charlottetown until 1 August 1884 as well as Post Office Inspector for the Province from 1880 until that date when he was appointed as the seventeenth Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island since the creation of the Colony in 1763.

Donald Cameron MacDonald: was a long time Canadian politician and political party leader and had been referred to as the "Best premier Ontario never had." He represented the provincial riding of York South in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1955 to 1982. From 1953 to 1970 he was the leader of the social democratic Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (Ontario Section) and its successor, the New Democratic Party of Ontario. MacDonald joined the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF) while serving in Ottawa, Ontario in 1942. In 1946, he joined the national CCF staff and travelled the country as a party organizer. He was a candidate in the August 1953 federal election for the British Columbia riding of Kootenay East, and finished a strong third against Liberal Jim Byrne with 28% of the vote. He was persuaded to run for the Ontario CCF leadership later in the same year, and defeated Fred Young and Andrew Brewin for the position.

He represented King's County and later King's in the Canadian House of Commons from 1873 to 1874, from 1878 to 1882, from 1883 to 1887 and from 1891 to 1900 as a Liberal-Conservative member. Macdonald served as the tenth Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island from 1915 to 1919. He served as a captain in the militia. He represented 3rd Kings in the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island from 1870 to 1873. He resigned his seat in 1873 to run for the federal seat. On June 2, 1915, Macdonald was named Lieutenant Governor. He died in office in 1919.

He served in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as a Liberal from 1987 to 1990 He first ran for the Ontario legislature in the 1975 provincial election, but lost to Progressive Conservative James Taylor by 732 votes in the Prince Edward—Lennox constituency. He ran again in the 1987 election, and defeated Progressive Conservative Dennis Tompkins by 2,079 votes. For the next three years, MacDonald served as a backbench supporter of David Peterson's government. The Liberals were unexpectedly defeated by the New Democratic Party in the 1990 provincial election. MacDonald finished third in his bid for re-election, finishing 1,016 votes behind Paul Johnson of the NDP.
