Taisuke Sato: a Japanese politician of the Democratic Party of Japan, a member of the House of Councillors in the Diet (national legislature). A native of Nagoya, Aichi and graduate of Aichi University of Education, he was elected to the House of Representatives for the first time in 1990 after teaching at local public schools. In 1996, he lost re-election but was elected to House of Councillors for the first time in 1998.

Tatsuo Sato: a Japanese politician of the Liberal Democratic Party, a member of the House of Representatives in the Diet (national legislature). A native of Fukushima, Fukushima, he attended the University of Tokyo and passed the bar exam while in the school. Upon graduation in 1961 he joined the Ministry of International Trade and Industry. Leaving the ministry in 1987, he ran unsuccessfully for the House of Representatives in 1990. He ran again in 1993 and was elected for the first time.

Daihachiro Sato: was a Japanese mathematician who was awarded the Lester R. Ford Award in 1976 for his work in number theory, specifically on his work in the Diophantine representation of prime numbers. His doctoral supervisor at the University of California, Los Angeles was Ernst G. Straus. It is due to this extensive collaboration with Straus that Sato has an Erdos number as well as an Einstein number of 2.

Mikio Sato: a Japanese mathematician, who started the field of algebraic analysis. He studied at the University of Tokyo, and then did graduate study in physics as a student of Shin'ichiro Tomonaga. From 1970 Sato has been professor at the Research Institute for Mathematical Sciences, of Kyoto University.He is known for his innovative work in a number of fields, such as prehomogeneous vector spaces and Bernstein-Sato polynomials; and particularly for his hyperfunction theory. This initially appeared as an extension of the ideas of distribution theory; it was soon connected to the local cohomology theory of Grothendieck, for which it was an independent origin, and to expression in terms of sheaf theory. It led further to the theory of microfunctions, interest in microlocal aspects of linear partial differential equations and Fourier theory such as wave fronts, and ultimately to the current developments in D-module theory. Part of that is the modern theory of holonomic systems: PDEs over-determined to the point of having finite-dimensional spaces of solutions.
