What actually we all women want? It is the best for our babies, isn't.

Likewise, as a pregnant woman, whatever we are taking is passing onto the baby from our blood. So, we should be very careful while taking any kind of medicines. It is a good idea to speak with your doctor or health care professional before you take any medicine, herbal remedy or drug. Also, do not take more than the recommended dose and if possible try not to take any medicine in the first trimester of your pregnancy. Although, it is advised throughout your pregnancy but you should strictly avoid during this trimester, as your baby's major body systems are forming in this trimester.

Safe medications

If you are feeling under the weather while pregnancy, you can try alternative options to relieve your symptoms. These home remedies and medications have no known harmful effects, BUT you should always consult your doctor before you start taking any medications:

1. Cold and Flu

  • Tylenol (acetaminophen)
  • Saline nasal drops or spray
  • Warm salt/water gargles

2. Constipation

  • Colace
  • Metamucil
  • First Aid Ointment

3. Allergy

  • Benadryl (diphenhydramine)
  • Claritin

4. Rashes

  • Benadryl cream
  • Caladryl lotion or cream
  • Hydrocortisone cream or ointment
  • Oatmeal bath (Aveeno)

5. First Aid Ointment

  • Bacitracin
  • J&J First-Aid Cream
  • Neosporin
  • Polysporin
