Robert Thorburn Ayton Innes: was a Scottish-South African astronomer best known for discovering Proxima Centauri in 1915, and numerous binary stars. He was also the first astronomer to have seen the Great January Comet of 1910, on January 12. He was the founding director of a meteorological station, which he converted to an astronomical observatory and renamed to Union Observatory. He was the first Union Astronomer.A self-taught astronomer, he went to Australia at an early age and made his living as a wine merchant in Sydney, where, using a small telescope, he discovered several double stars new to astronomy. He also published some papers on perturbations in Mars' and Venus' orbits.

Chris Innes: is a Scottish footballer who has played for Scottish Premier League (SPL) club St. Mirren since July 2009. Broxburn-born Innes started his professional career at Stenhousemuir after joining the Warriors from Blackburn United and moved to Kilmarnock for £50,000 in 1998. In 1999, he went out on loan twice, to St. Mirren for 3 months and to Falkirk for just over a week. In 2003, he moved Dundee United where he played exactly fifty times.

Mark Innes: is a Scottish footballer who plays his football in England, he is currently playing for New Mills in the North West Counties Football League Premier Division. Innes started his career with Oldham Athletic, signing professional forms at the start of the 1997-98 season. He joined Hyde United in 2007 whilst also working as a tiler.[4] But after some half-hearted performances and also as one of the high earners, he wasn't offered a new contract in summer 2009 and dropped several divisions to join New Mills in the North West Counties Football League Premier Division.
