Ganapathi Venkatrama: He started his career at the age of eight when he joined the Gubbi Veeranna Theater group. His first role as an actor in cinema was in the film Radharamana. Besides this he acted in a number of other movies such as Mahakavi Kalidasa, Sodhari, Hemavati, Hari Bhaktha and Bedara Kannapa. He soon started directing his own movies. The movie Hamsageethe (music by Dr. Balamuralikrishna, B.V. Karanth and T.G. Lingappa) was extremely well received and made him famous. Iyer wrote scripts, lyrics and produced and directed many commercial Kannada movies. Iyer’s biggest effort was Ranadheera Kanteerava. He continued making commercial movies until 1970.

He received his secondary education at St. Joseph's College, Colombo, and then went to King's College London on a scholarship and graduated with a degree in the Natural Sciences. He went on to Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge, to study the Law Tripos. GG graduated with a BA in Law and was subsequently called to the Bar at Lincoln's Inn, London.

Alberto Blest Gana: was a Chilean novelist and diplomat, considered the father of Chilean novel. Blest Gana was of Irish and Basque descent. A liberal, Alberto Blest was named intendant of the province of Colchagua and starting 1866 he was Chilean diplomatic representative at Washington, London and Paris. Among his successes were the inclusion of Chile in the Universal Postal Union and the purchase of armament for Chilean troops during the War of the Pacific. He also participated at border negotiations with Argentina, but with a less important role than his previous activities.

Federico Gana: was a Chilean writer and diplomat. He lived principally in Santiago and in San Bernardo. In October 1890, his first published work, the short story “¡Pobre vieja!” appeared in the weekly La Actualidad, under the pseudonym Pedro Simple. At the end of that year, Gana was named Second Secretary of the Chilean legation to London, a charge that ended with the fall of the Balmaceda government. In 1894, Gana published another short story, this time in publication El año Literario, that was initially titled “Por un perro,” but later came to be called “Un carácter." In July 1897, La Revista Literaria published the story “Una mañana de invierno, later known as “La Maiga,” with which Gana began the current of criollismo rural in the country.
