Kazue Sawai: a Japanese koto player noted for her performance of contemporary classical music and free improvisation.She began studying, at the age of eight, with Michio Miyagi. She later graduated from the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music.She plays both the 13-string and 17-string kotos. As a soloist, as well as with her koto ensemble, she has performed and worked with John Cage, Toshi Ichiyanagi, Yuji Takahashi, Roberto Carnevale, Sofia Gubaidulina, David Behrman, Carl Stone, and many other composers. She has performed in Japan, North America, and Europe.

Kazue Kojima: a Japanese freestyle swimmer who competed in the 1932 Summer Olympics and in the 1936 Summer Olympics.In 1932 she was a member of the Japanese relay team which finished fifth in the 4 x 100 metre freestyle relay event. In the 100 metre freestyle competition she was eliminated in the first round.Four years later she finished sixth in the 400 metre freestyle event. In the 100 metre freestyle competition she was eliminated in the semi-finals and as part of the Japanese relay team she was eliminated in the first round of the 4 x 100 metre freestyle relay event.

Kazue Shoda: was a Japanese statesman in the Meiji and Taisho periods.Shoda was born in Matsuyama Domain, Iyo Province, as the 5th son of a poor samurai. The famous poet Masaoka Shiki and admiral Akiyama Saneyuki were his friends from childhood. He graduated from Tokyo Imperial University in 1895, and obtained a position at the Ministry of Finance. In 1915, he rose to the position of director of the Bank of Chosen.  He was appointed Finance Minister under the Terauchi and Kiyoura administrations,  and Education Minister under the Tanaka administration. In 1938, he was considered for the post of Home Minister under the 2nd Konoe administration, a somewhat surprising choice, given his age and lack of experience in the Home Ministry, and the nomination was rejected by Emperor Hirohito.
