Helmuth Karl Bernhard Graf[1] Von Moltke: was a German Generalfeldmarschall. The chief of staff of the Prussian Army for thirty years, he is widely regarded as one of the great strategists of the latter half of the 1800s, and the creator of a new, more modern method, of directing armies in the field. He is often referred to as Moltke the Elder to distinguish him from his nephew Helmuth Johann Ludwig von Moltke, who commanded the German Army at the outbreak of World War I.

Adam Gottlob Moltke: Danish courtier, statesman and diplomat, born at Riesenhof in Mecklenburg.Though of German origin, many of the Moltkes were at this time in the Danish service, which was considered a more important and promising opening for the young north German noblemen than the service of any of the native principalities. Through one of his uncles, young Moltke became a page at the Danish court, in which capacity he formed a lifelong friendship with the crown prince Frederick, later King Frederick V.

Moltke participated in several expeditions as draughtsman, for instance to Greenland in 1898 and 1902–04 (on "The Literature Expedition"). One of his main works is a set of 30 portraits of Inuit, published in 1903. Together with Ludvig Mylius-Erichsen he also published the book "Greenland" (1906) and the memoirs "The Life Travel" (1936).
