Adolphe Napoleon Didron: was a French art historian and archaeologist. In 1839 he visited Greece for the purpose of examining the art of the Eastern Church, both in its buildings and its manuscripts. In 1844 he originated the Annales archéologiques, a periodical devoted to his favorite subject, which he edited until his death. In 1845 he established at Paris a special archaeological press, and at the same time a factory of painted glass. In the same year he was admitted to the Légion d'honneur.

Adolphe Reinach: was a French archaeologist and Egyptologist, active in excavations in Greece and Egypt. He was the son of the archaeologist Joseph Reinach and was killed in the first few months of the First World War whilst fighting in the French Army.

Adolphe Perraud: was a French Cardinal and academician. A brilliant student at the lycées Henri IV and St. Louis, he entered the Ecole Normale, where he was strongly influenced by Gratry. In 1850 he secured the fellowship of history and for two years he taught at the lycée of Angers. In 1852 he abandoned teaching to become a priest. He returned to Paris where he joined the Oratory, which was then being reorganized by Gratry and Abbé Pététot, curé of St. Roch.

Adolphe Eduard Masselot: was a French sculptor, best known for his war memorials. After early studies in Lille, his town of birth, he was accepted to the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He returned in due course to Lille and married Marguerite Piétin.They were to have four children of which three were boys. He served in the army during the 1914–1918 war and became a prisoner of war. During the years leading up to the war he had neglected sculpture and was director of the “Lille Cinéma”

Adolphe-Marie Gubler: was a French physician and pharmacologist who was born in Metz. Originally a student of botany, he began his medical studies in 1841 at Paris, where he was a pupil of Armand Trousseau (1801-1867). In 1845 he became an interne des hôpitaux, earning his doctorate in 1849. Afterwards he worked as a physician at the Hôpital Beaujon, and in 1853 earned his agrégation with a thesis on cirrhosis of the liver. In 1868 he was appointed professor of therapy to the medical faculty in Paris, maintaining this position until his death in 1879.
