Danilo Medina Sánchez: is a Dominican politician who was elected as President of the Dominican Republic in May 2012. He was President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Dominican Republic from 1994 to 1995 and subsequently served as Secretary of State of the Presidency from 1996 to 1999 and again from 2004 to 2006. Medina was the presidential candidate of the Dominican Liberation Party in the 2000 presidential election, and he was defeated by Hipólito Mejía. In a rematch 12 years later, he won the May 2012 presidential election, defeating Mejía with 51% of the votes. In 1990, Medina was elected member of the Political Committee of the Dominican Liberation Party together with Leonel Fernández and Juan Temístocles Montás. He was selected by his political organization to be the President of the Chamber of Deputies in the Dominican Republic.

Rafael Batista Sánchez: was a first baseman in Major League Baseball. He was born in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic. Batista was signed by the Milwaukee Braves as an amateur free agent before the 1965 season, and drafted by the Houston Astros from the Atlanta Braves in the 1967 minor league draft (November 28, 1967). He played for the Astros in 1973 and 1975. During his two short stints with Houston, he got into a total of 22 games, mostly as a pinch hitter. He batted .280 (7–for–25) and was excellent in the field. In eight appearances at first base he recorded twenty-six putouts, one assist, no errors, and participated in one double play. In his one big league start (July 2, 1973 at the Astrodome) he went 0–for–4 against San Diego Padres starter and winner Clay Kirby. He later was acquired by the Cafeteros de Cordoba (Cordoba Coffee Dealers) of the Mexican League before the 1976 season, and never again played in the Major Leagues.

He was the 27th American League player ever to homer in his first major league at-bat, and the 10th to do so on the first pitch.
